Algeria's president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has called for a special meeting at the United Nations (UN) to discuss the granting of full membership to Palestine.
During his speech at the 78th UN General Assembly in New York City, President Tebboune addressed various regional and global issues, placing a particular emphasis on the Palestinian cause.
He reiterated Algeria's support for the Arab Peace Initiative, which advocates for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967.
President Tebboune highlighted Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories as a significant factor contributing to regional instability.
He urged the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution supporting a two-state solution and calling for an end to the Israeli occupation.
