A Belgian MP calls for a ban on the entry of settlement products into the EU market

Belgian MP Simon Moutquin called for products from Israeli settlements built on the occupied Palestinian territories to be prevented from entering the EU market.

Belgian MP Simon Moutquin called for blocking access to EU markets for products from Israeli settlements built in the occupied Palestinian territories. MP Moutquin wrote on his Facebook account: "I took this photo in 2013 in Hebron, a city in occupied Palestine known for the violence of fanatical Israeli settlers. Every Saturday, a radical religious group organizes 'tours' of the Palestinian part of the city (well... the uninhabited part). Palestinians are being pushed against the wall to make way for this colonial tour."

He added: "I am convinced that if the 'complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict' is holding back many citizens from taking a position, the evidence of refusing products from a land occupied by an army and hundreds of thousands of settlers must reach consensus. The occupation of Palestine is illegal, and we cannot participate in this illegality by allowing tons of products made in the settlements to end up in our stores”.
