European Union concerned about escalation of violence in the West Bank

European Union High Representative Joseph Borrell said the European Union regrets the Israeli army's military operation in Nablus which killed 10 Palestinians, including a minor, and injured 100 others.

He stressed the need to fully respect international humanitarian law and to avoid excessive use of force.

The European Union is deeply concerned about the escalation of violence in the West Bank and calls on all parties to work to restore calm, reduce tensions and avoid further casualties.

The EU reaffirms its support for the presidential statement adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 20 February and urges all parties to fully comply with it.
