Palestine rights supporters target Puma in nationwide action

PALESTINE supporters protested at JD Sports shops selling goods from sportswear firm Puma on Saturday over the brand’s sponsorship of the Israeli FA.

Demonstrations took place at 17 spots, with sites in Manchester and some others occupied by protesters.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign said more than 200 Palestinian football clubs have urged Puma to end its sponsorship, which includes sports events in Israeli settlements in illegally occupied Palestine.

PSC said: “Puma is feeling the pressure from the global campaign.

“Just a few weeks ago the Oakland Roots Sports Club in California became the latest professional team — and first in the US — to drop Puma following a year of engagement with local grassroots groups and fan clubs.

“They join a host of football clubs, including many in the UK, who have severed ties with Puma during the course of the international campaign.

“Last year we pledged #NoRestForPuma until it ends complicity in Israeli apartheid. We’re keeping that pledge.”
