The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the death of the heroic prisoner, Nasser Abu Hamid, as a result of the policy of deliberate medical negligence that the occupation follows against the prisoners.
In a statement, the League called on the international community and relevant institutions to intervene to protect the prisoners and to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to respect international humanitarian law, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention, and to abide by the rules for humane treatment of Palestinian detainees, calling for the formation of a commission of inquiry into the crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people, and prosecuting the perpetrators before international justice.
It condemned the arbitrary measures of the occupation and the inhuman treatment of prisoners in prisons and their deprivation of basic rights assigned to them by international conventions and covenants.
On Tuesday, the Palestinian Authority for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced the death of the prisoner in the Israeli jails, Nasser Abu Hamid (50 years), in Assaf Harofeh Hospital, as a result of the policy of deliberate medical negligence followed by the prison administration against sick prisoners.
With the martyrdom of the prisoner Abu Hamid, the number of martyrs of the captive movement has risen to (233) martyrs since 1967, of whom (74) have died as a result of the crime of medical negligence.
