LP4Q Calls for Immediate Action to Save Hisham Abu Hawash’s Life

Press Statement

League of Parliamentarians for al Quds calls for immediate action to save Hisham Abu Hawash's life

League of Parliamentarians for Al Quds calls upon the parliamentarian institutions, states and human rights organizations for immediate intervention to pressurize the occupation into releasing the 141 consecutive days hunger stricken prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash.

The League warns from the possibility of losing Abu Hawashs’ life, as a result of the occupation obstinacy and the continuation of his arrest under the policy of administrative detention and their refusal to release and abide to the legal demands and the International conventions of prisoners.

The League demands to pressurize the occupation to stop the policy of administrative detention which goes against the International law and to which the occupation state doesn’t act in accordance to the general principles nor to the judicial guarantees or to the fair procedures related to administrative detention that was introduced by the International law and Geneva 4th Convention.

The League reaffirms that this policy is a grave violation of International law and principles of human rights, and a grave violation to the basic norms, International conventions and the Geneva 4th convention of 1949 precisely article 70 and 71, which considers that undertaking a fair court there must be a clear indictment for the victim that shows reasons for his prosecution so that he can have the chance to defend himself, in which the occupation doesn’t apply to administrative detainees.

The League emphasizes that this tragedy is the result of the illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories and calls for it’s immediate cease.
