Court Session for the Hunger Stricken Prisoner Alaa Al-Araj

Lawyer Javad Paul said that a hearing was being held at the Military Occupation Court in Salem, today Tuesday, for prisoner Ala Al-Araj of Tulkarm, who has been on hunger strike for 94 days, refusing his administrative arrest.

In a statement to the Prisoners Society, Paul explained that the Tribunal would be convened with a view to extending his arrest until Thursday to complete judicial proceedings and prepare an indictment against him, noting that his administrative arrest warrant was likely to be revoked.

It is reported that the detainee Ala Al-Araj (34 years old) is a civil engineer and is housed in a prison. He has been detained several times since 2007, including administrative arrests. His total number of years of detention was more than five years apart. During his previous detention, his father lost his life. His wife gave birth to his only child while under arrest. The occupation authorities re-detained him administratively on 30 June.
