652 violations committed by the occupation against Palestinian journalists since the beginning of the year

The Committee to Support Palestinian Journalists confirmed that the Israeli occupation has committed 652 violations against journalists since the beginning of this year, calling on the international community to compel the occupation to implement international laws that guarantee media freedom of movement and coverage without any pressure.

Ma'an News Agency quoted the committee as saying in a statement issued on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist, which falls on September 26 of each year, that the number of violations by the occupation against Palestinian journalists has reached 652 since the beginning of this year, noting that these violations resulted during the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Gaza, last May, about the martyrdom of journalist Youssef Abu Hussein and the destruction of more than 59 media institutions.

The statement pointed out that the occupation targets Palestinian journalists in an attempt to silence their voice and prevent them from exposing the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people.

The statement called on the International Federation of Journalists and human rights organizations to pressure the occupation authorities to release 24 journalists they are holding in their detention centers and to work to provide serious and real support in all its forms to Palestinian journalists and media outlets in the face of the escalating grave violations of the occupation.
