Erdogan: Peace in the Middle East is not possible as long as Palestinians are being oppressed

Tuesday, Turkish President Receb Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed that peace and stability in the Middle East will not be possible if the oppression of the Palestinian people continues.

He added during the 76 UN assembly, that the main problem which feed instability and threaten peace in our region is the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stating that: “for this reason, the Israeli occupation policy in annexation and illegal settlements must end entirely and immediately”.

"We will continue to stand up to the violation of the status quo in Jerusalem on the basis of the 1947 United Nations resolution and against violations of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rights of the Palestinian people," he continued, adding that "the establishment of an independent and geographically contiguous Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of the 1967 borders remains one of our fundamental objectives."
