Maldivian MP Saud Hussein called on the international community to end Israeli occupation practices, including the annexation of more Palestinian territories, and the need to condemn Israeli aggression.
The MP for Villingili constituency said in a press statement, a copy of which was obtained by the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q), that the Maldives always believes that the state of Palestine will be established within the 1967 borders and that East Jerusalem will be its capital, stating that the annexation of more Palestinian lands is an obstacle to the establishment of the two-state solution.
Hussein denounced, "The continuation of aggression against the people of Palestine and the blatant violation of human dignity and rights, as well as the violation of international law, require the intervention of the international community to stop this, and it must bear in mind that the State of Israel's non-compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions is a serious matter.
The Representative added that the people of the Maldives have always been considered close brothers and sisters of the Palestinian people and continue to work to preserve the brotherly relationship, and in this difficult time for the Palestinian people, the solidarity of the people of the Maldives through the People's Assembly will be an encouragement to countries working for the rights of the Palestinian people and to international organizations working for human dignity, human rights and the establishment of a viable Palestinian State.
The statement said that the invitation to the international community, developed in the form of a drift Resolution submitted under the provision granted the members under the ruling 167 of the Majlis 01 the Maldives is to express the concerns of the Maldivians to the International community on the issue of illegal occupation and annexation of Palestinian land by Israel.
