EUROPEAN UNION CONFIRMS THE ILLEGALITY OF SETTLEMENT BUILDING

The European Union, on Sunday, renewed its firm position that settlement building is illegal under international law.
Josep Borrel, EU senior official for foreign and political affairs, expressed concern on the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to build colonial units between Bethlehem and occupied Jerusalem.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Borrel expressed concern over the occupation’s decision to allow new settlements to be built, which undermines the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
The EU also called on Israel to end all colonial encroachments and destroy the outposts.
