A number of Jordanian lawmakers plan to hold a vigil at the Karama crossing on Friday to express their rejection of events at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and statements by Israel’s interior minister demanding a change in the status quo in occupied Jerusalem.

The head of the Palestine Committee in the Jordanian parliament Yahya al-Saud said: “The pause comes to deliver a message to the Israeli occupation that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Palestine is a red line for Jordanians and may not be crossed.”

This comes after the Jordanian House of Representatives voted on Monday, on non-binding recommendations to the government, including the severance of diplomatic relations with “Israel” and the abolition of the peace treaty with them.

The House of Representatives will invite ambassadors of the permanent members of the Security Council, the European Union, the Arab Group and the Islamic Group to affirm their support to resolve the Palestinian issue, and another for the heads of Arab parliaments to hold an emergency session to talk about the situation in Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
