LP4Q holds an international parliamentary symposium to take practical steps in response to the occupation attacks on Al-Aqsa

The head of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, called on Arab, Islamic and international parliaments to take action to prevent the recurrence of the Israeli occupation’s assault on the worshipers and seclusion of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Ahmar added, during the electronic international parliamentary symposium organized by the League, under the title "Ways to Protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from Israeli Aggression," that the occupation's storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the barbaric and violent attack on those in i'tikaaf is an attack on the feelings of all Muslims in the world and a threat to world peace, stressing that the attacks and plans of the occupation in Jerusalem require parliamentarians to move in every direction, including working through international parliamentary organizations and bodies to pressure the occupation to stop them.

He stressed that parliamentarians must have active participation within their powers, platforms and governments, in order to hold the occupation accountable and prevent the recurrence of attacks, pointing out that the political stances regarding the recent attack on the seclusion in Al-Aqsa Mosque do not discourage the occupation government from its crimes and stop what is happening in Al-Aqsa.

The head of the league pointed out that the recent developments in Jerusalem are very dangerous and unprecedented and an attempt to impose plans to Judaize Al-Aqsa and divide it temporally and spatially by force and barbaric and brutal assault on civilians and worshipers who are guaranteed freedom of worship by international law, indicating that the extremist occupation government is not ashamed to show its indifference to international institutions and disregard international law and the historical and religious situation in Jerusalem.

For his part, the Director General of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and the moderator of the seminar, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, presented an information paper and a briefing on the attacks carried out by the occupation against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the role and wide action taken by the association after these attacks.

He thanked the deputies present at the seminar and the rest of the deputies who highlighted their noble and courageous positions that expressed condemnation of the Israeli aggression in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and especially thanked the Italian MP Michele Piras for his actions on the European continent with a group of free European parliamentarians and defenders of the just Palestinian cause.

For his part, MP in the Indonesian House of Representatives and deputy chairman of the League of parliamentarians for Al-Quds, Fadli Zon, said that the Indonesian parliament demanded from the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states to take practical steps on the occupation's attacks on Al-Aqsa, stressing that these attacks amount to crimes against Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.

He stressed that the league continues its contacts with international organizations to push for taking strong positions and not just statements of condemnation, calling for the launch of a global signature petition condemning these attacks and calling on all parliaments to work together to support the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Acting Chairman of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Ahmed Bahr, stressed the need for parliamentarians to unite to face the fierce Zionist attack led by the fascist occupation government targeting al-Aqsa Mosque and the formation of a united international parliamentary front to support Jerusalem and Palestine, reminding him once again that the occupation is racing against time to resolve the battle on Al-Aqsa and divide it temporally and spatially.

Bahr pointed out that the occupation is pushing towards igniting a religious war in the region through its plans and attacks in the occupied city of Jerusalem, continuing, "we are counting on the Islamic and international parliamentary role to support the cause of Al-Aqsa, whether at the personal parliamentary level or at the level of Islamic and international parliamentary unions, which have a political, legal and Media Responsibility.

As for the member of the executive body of the League, MP in the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Osama Al-Shaheen, said that these violations are a clear and explicit aggression against the symbolism of the Al-Aqsa Mosque among Muslims and an attack on international resolutions and charters related to Jerusalem.

According to Al-Shaheen, there is a need for qualitative actions by all parliamentarians to highlight the extent of the extremism of the Israeli occupation and the brutality of its plans and aggressions, highlighting them and holding the occupation accountable for them in international courts and institutions.

For his part, the chairman of the defense and Foreign Relations Committee of the Senate of Pakistan, Senator Mushahid Hussain, condemned the occupation's attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its exploitation of the confluence of three occasions of the three heavenly religions, the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims, Passover for Jews and Easter for Christians, for violating the sanctity of Al-Aqsa, assaulting worshippers and retreat and insulting religious rituals.

Hussain stressed that these attacks reflect the brutality and nature of the occupation, pointing out that Pakistan's parliament and government condemned this crime and showed its permanent sympathy with the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.

As for the chairman of the Palestine Parliamentary Committee in the Jordanian Parliament, Dr. Fayez Basbous, he explained that there is a dramatic shift in the plans of the occupation and an increase in the pace of Judaization and attempts to change the historical and religious character of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied city of Jerusalem.

He pointed out that the holding of the symposium is an exceptional step compared to the size of the popular and official responses of the Islamic nation to what is happening in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.

Basbous called for an international mobilization and permanent affirmation of the Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem in its spiritual, political and historical dimensions, calling for the convening of a parliamentary conference to condemn the aggression and announce practical steps to deter the occupation.

For his part, the member of the executive body of the league, the president of the league of Europe for Al-Quds and Palestine, and former member of the Italian parliament, Michele Piras, condemned the International and international silence towards the occupation's attack on worshippers at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, explaining that the prevailing narrative in Europe is the Israeli one, unfortunately, and the worst is that most European peoples are unable to distinguish between the aggressed and the aggressor in the events related to the Palestinian issue.

"As a group of Deputies from different European countries, not just Italy, who are supporters of the Palestinian cause, we are taking intensive actions to spread awareness and defend this Just Cause in the European parliaments," Piras said.

The chairman of the Algerian-Palestinian Friendship Parliamentary Group, Hamza Hamlaoui, reiterated the need for practical action to stop these attacks, and the need to hold a Palestinian national reconciliation to face the Israeli challenges and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Hamlaoui stressed Algeria's support for the Jordanian guardianship of the holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem, warning of the occupation plans to target and end the Jordanian role in Al-Aqsa in the jurisdiction and administration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the guardianship of Jordan and the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf because there are persistent attempts to stop the Jordanian role in Al-Aqsa.

Dozens of people were injured and about 400 were arrested at dawn last Wednesday during the brutal repression of the Israeli occupation forces of the protesters inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The occupation forces smashed the windows of the tribal Chapel and climbed onto its roof, and fired gas and sound bombs towards the retreats, before breaking into the chapel from the clinic and assaulting the retreats.

Videos showed the occupation forces attacking the retreats with severe beatings using batons and rifle butts, before arresting a number of them.

The league of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds took measures following the occupation attack on worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, including correspondence with all parliaments and international and parliamentary organizations to move and take steps to respond to the occupation attacks, in addition to making contacts with the chairmen of the Palestine committees in the parliaments for urgent action, and briefing the parliaments on the details of the attack and occupation plans in Al-Aqsa.
