The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q) held an emergency virtual parliamentary meeting on Saturday, which was attended by the heads of the Palestinian committees in the parliaments and the heads of the Foreign Relations and defense committees, as well as the board of directors, advisers, assistant presidents and heads of the regional associations in the LP4Q to discuss ways to support the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and end the aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The meeting, which was attended by parliamentarians from "Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, Italy, Jordan, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, Palestine and Kuwait", discussed activating board members, representatives, assistants, advisors, regional associations and other members to support the Palestinian cause and support the Palestinian people against the Israeli aggression in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip and inside the occupied lands in 1948.
Chairman of LP4Q, Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, said during his speech at the meeting that the current situation requires serious pause and practical action from all parliaments in the world to stop the occupation crimes in the Palestinian territories, especially at Gaza Strip, stressing the need to activate the role of the Palestine Committees in the Arab parliaments and put pressure on governments to act urgently.
Al-Ahmar pointed out that parliamentarians have a great responsibility to counter the misleading narrative of the Israeli occupation and try to reverse the facts through the lobby that supports the occupation, calling for mobilizing political and parliamentary support for the rights of the Palestinian people.
For his part, the Director-General of the LP4Q, Dr. Muhammad Makram Balawi, recommended putting pressure on international organizations, the United Nations and the European Union, and the United States to stop the aggression against the Palestinian territories, in addition to forming a parliamentary committee to bring cases against the occupation crimes against the Palestinian people before the International Criminal Court.
Balawi called on parliamentarians to reach out to the free people and parliaments around the world to reaffirm the Palestinian narrative and work to mobilize political and financial support to strengthen the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem and the reconstruction of Gaza Strip.
As for the Vice President of the LP4Q, the Turkish Deputy Minister of the Treasury and Finance, Dr. Nureddin Nebati, reiterated the support of the Turkish people, parliament and government for the rights of the Palestinian people and condemned the attacks of the Israeli occupation against them, stressing that what the occupation is doing in the Palestinian territories is "state terrorism".
He called on parliamentarians to urgently stand up for the Palestinian people and stop the attacks on children and civilians and the forced evictions, pointing out that parliaments have a great role and responsibility before humanity to stop what is happening.
