Brazilian Congresswoman Monica Seixas Joins the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine

Brazilian Congresswoman Monica Seixas has officially announced her membership in Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, during her reception of a delegation from the Latin American Palestinian Forum at her office in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in São Paulo. This membership comes as part of the Forum's efforts to strengthen international parliamentary support for the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting, the Forum's delegation, which included its President, Mohammad Al-Qadri, and Executive Director, Ahmed Hweidi, expressed their appreciation for Congresswoman Seixas' role in supporting the Palestinian cause, especially through her sponsorship of the solidarity event held in the Brazilian Parliament on the occasion of Palestinian Land Day on April 4, 2025. The delegation briefed the Congresswoman on the positive global reactions to the event, which was described as one of the most prominent pro-Palestine events in Brazil.

The delegation discussed with the Congresswoman the importance of her joining the League of "Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine" and participating in its upcoming international conference, which was greatly welcomed by Congresswoman Seixas, who officially announced her agreement to join. She affirmed her readiness to work with the League to strengthen parliamentary efforts to support Palestine and defend the city of Jerusalem and Palestine in international forums.

Congresswoman Monica Seixas also expressed her deep impression with the atmosphere of the solidarity event she sponsored, stressing that supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights is part of her human rights struggle. She said: "Just as I defend the rights of Black people to whom I belong, I see defending the Palestinian people as a moral and political duty. We share the same historical suffering from racism, colonialism, and oppression."

For its part, the League welcomed the joining of Congresswoman Seixas, stressing that this step enhances its efforts to expand the base of international parliamentary support for the Palestinian cause.

It is worth noting that the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine includes more than 1,500 parliamentarians from various countries around the world and aims to coordinate parliamentary efforts to support the Palestinian cause, defend the city of Jerusalem, and support legislation that protects Palestinian rights.
