The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine organized a meeting on Friday that brought together the Chairman of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Committee in the Turkish Parliament and Vice President of the League, Hasan Turan, with a Jordanian parliamentary delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Mustafa Al-Khasawneh. The meeting aimed to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and enhance parliamentary cooperation in support of the rights of the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, Turan called on parliamentarians worldwide to take immediate action to hold Israeli occupation leaders accountable for their crimes in Gaza and to work on strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land.
Turan emphasized that the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip is unprecedented in human history. He stressed that this injustice and Israeli aggression did not begin on October 7 but rather started with the first Zionist Congress and continued through the Balfour Declaration, followed by the declaration of the establishment of the Zionist entity in 1948.
He added, "This injustice has continued for 77 years, with the systematic seizure of Palestinian lands. It has persisted alongside the assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque—our first Qibla—the attempts to Judaize occupied Jerusalem, and the ongoing killing of our Palestinian brothers and sisters who defend it bravely."
Turan stated that this issue is not solely that of the Palestinians, nor just an Arab or even solely a Muslim issue, but rather a matter of humanity, justice, and rights. He continued, "For 467 days of this genocide, the murderers have sought to gain wealth and benefits at the cost of Palestinian blood and bodies. Therefore, all of us—as Muslims, as free people of this world, and as believers in justice and truth—must stand against this injustice and resist it by all means."
He affirmed, "The land of Palestine is not for sale, Gaza belongs to its people, and Jerusalem is the capital of Islam and Muslims—it is our first Qibla and our red line. As the sons and daughters of this Ummah, we must all stand united against this brutal aggression."
For his part, the Chairman of the Jordanian Parliamentary Committee on Palestine, MP Suleiman Al-Saoud, reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast stance against forced displacement policies and highlighted the importance of continued humanitarian support amid the critical situation in Gaza.
Al-Saoud also underscored the significance of the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, praising Turkey’s supportive positions on this role.
Both Al-Saoud and Turan called on parliamentarians worldwide to take immediate action to hold Israeli occupation leaders accountable for their crimes in Gaza. They stressed that impunity is no longer acceptable and that an international parliamentary movement must be launched to prosecute those responsible for human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
