The League Holds a Turkish-Jordanian Parliamentary Meeting to Discuss Developments in the Palestinian Issue

Today, Thursday, the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine organized a meeting that brought together the former minister and member of the Turkish Parliament and the League, Nureddin Nebati, with a Jordanian parliamentary delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Mustafa Al-Khasawneh, to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and enhance parliamentary cooperation to support the rights of the Palestinian people.

During the meeting, MP Dr. Nebati emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not just a matter for the Palestinian people alone, but it is a matter for all the free people of the world. He stressed that the crimes committed in Gaza represent a genocide for which the international community bears moral responsibility, necessitating effective international action to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

He condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria, the West Bank, and the Palestinian territories, warning of the dangers these attacks pose to the region's stability.

Nebati also emphasized that Gaza continues to suffer despite the ceasefire, which requires efforts to consolidate the ceasefire, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, and lift the unjust siege.

He praised the League's efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause at the parliamentary level, appreciating its role in unifying international positions to support the Palestinian people.

He also appreciated Jordan's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in defending the rights of Palestinians and protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, affirming that the Hashemite custodianship forms a shield that prevents the Judaization of the holy sites.

For his part, the First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Mustafa Al-Khasawneh, affirmed Jordan's firm position on the Palestinian issue, referring to the three "No's": "No to displacement, no to resettlement, no to an alternative homeland."

Al-Khasawneh stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation between Jordan, Turkey, and the League to face displacement plans and enforce the status quo, and to coordinate a unified international stance against Israeli violations.

He also emphasized the necessity of protecting the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from plans aiming to end its work, and to counter the occupation's attempts to continue its attacks on Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives warned of the danger of the occupation's plans to annex the West Bank and its efforts to change its name to "Judea and Samaria," in an attempt to legitimize its occupation, affirming that these steps pose a threat to security and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Palestine Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives, MP Engineer Suleiman Al-Saud, praised Turkey and the League's efforts in supporting the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites, which is considered a shield against the occupation's attempts to Judaize them.

Al-Saud noted that this meeting highlights the importance of joint efforts between Jordan and Turkey, especially in light of Jordan's rejection of displacement plans, and His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to the United States, during which he emphasized the three "No's," stressing the necessity of mobilizing global parliamentary support to stop Israeli aggressions and ensure the rights of Palestinians.

He called for enhancing coordination between the Jordanian and Turkish parliaments and the League, to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire in Gaza, and to stop violations against the Palestinian people, through parliamentary coordination supporting official diplomatic efforts.

Al-Saud expressed hope that permanent committees for Palestine would be formed in all parliaments, similar to the Jordanian House of Representatives, to continuously follow the Palestinian file and enhance political efforts to support the cause and have an impact on Arab and international political decision-making.

The participating MPs from the Jordanian parliamentary delegation affirmed that the Israeli occupation seeks to stir chaos in the region, which will negatively reflect on regional and international security.

The parliamentarians stressed that imposing any solution to the Palestinian issue at the expense of the region's countries is completely rejected and poses a significant risk to international peace and security.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, affirmed that the League will continue its efforts in mobilizing international parliamentary support to champion the Palestinian cause, and work with parliaments around the world to confront the occupation's plans aiming to Judaize Jerusalem and displace Palestinians.

Balawi emphasized the importance of coordination between Arab and Muslim parliamentarians and supporters of the Palestinian cause worldwide, to ensure the continuation of political and parliamentary pressure on the occupation, and support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

He stated that this meeting comes as part of a series of meetings held by the League with parliamentarians from various countries, aiming to unify international parliamentary efforts to support the Palestinian cause, and to confront the occupation's plans seeking to change the facts on the ground and impose a new reality.
