President of the League: Rebuilding Gaza and Rejecting Displacement is Not an Option, But a Humanitarian Duty

Mr. Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, President of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine, stated that the Palestinian people in Gaza have been subjected to an unprecedented genocide amid ongoing Israeli aggression in the West Bank and Jerusalem, with disgraceful international complicity and alarming global silence.

Speaking at the 15th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, Mr. Hamid emphasized that this international inaction has not only exacerbated Palestinian suffering but also threatens the entire global order and undermines trust in international institutions that were supposed to uphold justice and protect the rights of nations.

He firmly rejected any attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause, whether through Trump’s so-called "deal" to displace Gaza’s residents or through forced displacement policies and accelerating settlement expansion, which aim to impose a new reality at the expense of Palestinian rights.

The President of the League condemned the escalating Israeli violations, including killings, arbitrary arrests, attempts to Judaize Jerusalem, and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque, asserting that these policies not only violate international law but also pose a direct threat to global peace and security.

Mr. Hamid also criticized the United States, describing its withdrawal from the Human Rights Council and its unconditional support for Israel’s ethnic cleansing policies as clear evidence of the international community’s double standards.

He praised South Africa’s historic stance at the International Court of Justice, calling on all nations to support this initiative and join The Hague Group in defending Palestinian rights.

Regarding the issue of reconstruction, he stressed that the Israeli occupation bears full responsibility for the massive destruction in Gaza and must be held accountable for rebuilding the Strip and compensating the affected residents. He urged all nations to actively contribute to humanitarian relief efforts, ensure the unhindered entry of aid, and lift the blockade imposed on Gaza.

The President of the League called on the international community to reject displacement and ethnic cleansing policies, strengthen Palestinian resilience on their land, support their legitimate right to self-determination and statehood, and enforce a comprehensive boycott of the Israeli occupation across political, economic, academic, and sports sectors.

He emphasized that international pressure is no longer a choice but a moral and humanitarian obligation. He stressed that responsibility goes beyond speeches and condemnations, requiring active political, legal, and diplomatic action to ensure an end to the occupation, stop the aggression, and achieve justice for the Palestinian people.

Mr. Hamid concluded by asserting that the time has come for clear and decisive action, beyond weak condemnations and ineffective denunciations. Justice, he stated, is not achieved through words but through action.
