Brazilian Parliamentarians Organize Event to Support Palestine and Reject War on Gaza

Brazilian parliamentarians organized a solidarity event for the Palestinian people, initiated by the Brazilian-Palestinian Institute (IBRASPAL) in collaboration with several parliamentary leaders from the Workers' Party, the Communist Party, and the Freedom and Socialism Party. The event aimed to discuss the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip and ways to enhance parliamentary support for the Palestinian cause.

The meeting, held at the Brazilian Parliament in the capital, Brasília, was attended by a large number of deputies and Brazilian political leaders, who strongly condemned the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The parliamentarians affirmed their solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and dignity, emphasizing that what is happening in Gaza represents acts of genocide and a blatant violation of human rights.

The meeting addressed the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the media challenges facing the Palestinian cause in Brazil, as well as efforts to counter attempts to distort the image of Palestinian resistance. It also discussed steps that could be taken within the Brazilian Parliament before the end of the current year.

Ahmad Shahada, the president of the Brazilian-Palestinian Institute (IBRASPAL), announced that the meeting aimed to keep the Palestinian cause strongly present in the Brazilian political scene, emphasizing the importance of uniting parliamentary efforts to revive the "Brazilian Parliamentary Front for Supporting the Palestinian Cause," which is expected to launch soon.

Shahada explained that the extensive media campaign aimed at distorting the image of resistance in Brazil initially negatively affected some parliamentarians. However, documented investigations proved the falsity of the circulating claims, which strengthened the credibility of the resistance and encouraged many deputies to maintain their support for the Palestinian cause.

He noted that during the meeting, a series of practical measures were agreed upon to support the Palestinian cause and activate the "Parliamentary Front for Advocacy of the Palestinian Cause" before the parliamentary recess at the beginning of the next year, as well as coordinating parliamentary efforts to pressure the Brazilian government to stop cooperation with the occupation in various fields.

The meeting concluded with a message of solidarity from Brazilian deputies to the Palestinian people, affirming that daily crimes would not become normalized, and their commitment to highlighting the stories of Palestinian martyrs in their speeches before Parliament to keep the suffering of Gaza present in the political scene.
