Press Release from the Executive Committee of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine

The Executive Committee of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine held its regular meeting at the League's headquarters in Istanbul on Sunday, October 27, 2024, chaired by the League's President, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, with the attendance of members of the Executive and Advisory Committees.

The President opened the meeting with a speech emphasizing the League's central role in mobilizing the efforts of parliaments and parliamentarians worldwide to confront the genocide and massacres perpetrated by the occupying forces in Gaza. He reviewed the efforts and activities carried out by the League and its members in recent months to halt the war and condemn Israeli crimes, noting the necessity of intensifying these efforts in the upcoming phase as part of an effective global parliamentary campaign aimed at stopping the aggression adopted by the League.

After discussing the main points on the agenda, the meeting concluded with the following resolutions:

1. The continuation of the unjust genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people in Gaza, supported by the U.S. and Western powers for over a year, is considered one of the most horrific scenes in human history. Even more dreadful is the paralysis and betrayal exercised by the international community alongside the deterioration of human conscience among effective international bodies and systems.

2. The League reaffirms its principled stance in condemning the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as against the Lebanese people, and commits to exerting maximum efforts to stop this aggression and to commend the legitimate resistance against it.

3. Launching a global parliamentary campaign to stand against the genocide, hoping for participation from global, regional, Arab, and Islamic parliamentary bodies, as well as parliaments supportive of Palestinian rights and parliamentarians defending the Palestinian cause from the League and beyond. This campaign will not cease until the end of this unjust war.

4. Issuing an urgent global parliamentary call for parliamentarians around the world to take immediate action to address the horrific genocide occurring in Jabalia and northern governorates, where most of the victims are women and children.

5. The League expresses its gratitude to the Turkish state for its supportive stance on Palestinian rights and its support for the League, commending the outcomes of the meeting in which the President of the Turkish Parliament received the President and members of the League's Executive Committee at the Turkish Parliament in Istanbul.

6. The League condemns the unjust decision by the U.S. Department of the Treasury against the League's President, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, who leads global parliamentary efforts supporting the Palestinian people through his presidency of the League. He adopts a peaceful and civil approach to confront the unjust narrative of the occupation and to counter it in international parliamentary forums, presenting the just Palestinian narrative and mobilizing supporting parliamentarians for the Palestinian cause within a unified global framework, regardless of their ethnicities, religions, or sects. The League calls for the removal of these sanctions, which are intended to become a sword looming over the necks of the free people of the world supporting Palestinian rights.

7. A warning is issued regarding the dangers facing the city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities due to the daily violations committed by settlers under the protection of occupation forces and with the participation of ministers from the oppressive occupation government.

8. Calling all components of the Palestinian people, national factions, and active forces to unite in the face of the genocide and Zionist massacres and to agree on a common national program to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people and reclaim their legitimate rights.

9. Launching a Women’s Wing and a Youth Wing as a part of the new League's structure, to enhance the role of women and youth parliamentarians globally in championing the Palestinian people against the horrors they face.

10. Adopting a series of local activities, seminars, conferences, visits, and events, as part of the League's work and the efforts of its active Executive Committee members in their respective countries across various continents around the world.
