A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds met with Duarte Pacheco, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on Monday in Istanbul to discuss the League’s membership in the Union.

The delegation included the President of the League, Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, the Director General of the League, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and the Head of the Public Relations Department, Eng. Abdullah El-Beltaji.

During the meeting, all the relevant information for the League's request to obtain observer member status in the Union was submitted to the President of the IPU. A decision regarding the request will be made at the next IPU meeting, scheduled to be held in Rwanda.

A delegation from the League previously participated in the 144th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which took place in Bali, Indonesia, upon an official invitation.
