A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds and Palestine held a meeting on Tuesday with the President of the People's National Assembly of Algeria, Ibrahim Boughali, on the sidelines of the League's participation in the 36th Conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union held in Algeria.
The meeting discussed the cooperation between the League and the National Assembly in leading the African parliamentary efforts supporting Palestine, and ways to enhance the role of African parliaments in this regard.
The delegation discussed holding a parliamentary symposium that hosts delegations from African parliaments under the auspices of the Assembly in Algeria, to discuss the genocide being waged by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip, and to strengthen Palestine's presence in the continent's parliaments, and unify efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, Assembly President Ibrahim Boughali emphasized the Palestinian people's right to resist the occupation and obtain their legitimate rights stipulated in international agreements and laws.
Boughali condemned the Israeli occupation's impunity and the complicity of Western countries in the genocide it is waging on the Gaza Strip and providing it with support and immunity, holding the UN Security Council fully responsible for the continued violations by the occupation of the UN Charter and its relevant resolutions.
For their part, the League's delegation thanked Algeria, its people, government and parliament, for their great and supportive positions for the Palestinian cause, especially in parliamentary and international forums, and for its participation as the largest parliamentary delegation in the League's fifth conference.
The League's delegation, chaired by the Vice President of the League, Dr. Ahmed Kharchi, included the Secretary-General of the League, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and the Head of the Relations Department at the League, Eng. Abdullah Al-Baltaji.
