Italian MP Stefania Ascari announces the formation of a parliamentary intergroup for Palestine in the italian parliament

Stefania Ascari, an Italian deputy and a new member in the European League of Parliamentarians for Palestine, has announced the establishment of a parliamentary intergroup dedicated to Palestine.

"This significant development comes as a result of extensive networking efforts carried out in both Italy and throughout Europe over the past few months. The intergroup aims to enhance coordination among parliamentarians who firmly uphold principles such as the International Law, Human Rights, Freedom, and self-determination." declared Michele Piras, the European President of the League, expressing his utmost satisfaction with this tangible progress, emphasizing the importance of this step forward.

This announcement closely follows the statements made during the Conference organized by the European League on May 12th in Rome - Italy.

Stefania Ascari declared that the inaugural meeting of the intergroup will take place on May 22nd at the Chamber of Deputies. She expressed her delight at the response received thus far, with numerous colleagues from different political parties already joining the intergroup. Ascari hopes that this initial milestone will pave the way for further progress in the future.

She stressed the urgent need for Europe and all countries involved to assume a different role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This includes formally recognizing the State of Palestine, advocating strongly for the respect of International Law, and working diligently to put an end to the occupation and apartheid regime. Ascari also called for a united effort to counteract the subversive plans of the Israeli extreme right.
