The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds responded to the network of NGOs' distress call to apply strong pressure on Israel to break the siege of the Gaza Strip.

The League stated that it will respond to the humanitarian call with all of its resources and will launch an international campaign, including parliamentary, legal, and media events, to introduce the blockade imposed on the Strip, as well as communicate with parliaments and parliamentarians to move in order to pressure and work to lift the blockade.

The League urged the international community at all levels, as well as its official and parliamentary bodies, to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation in order to work hard to lift the blockade in accordance with UN resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution No. 1860, emphasizing that the blockade is a crime of collective punishment for the people of Gaza, as well as a clear violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

The Palestinian “NGOs Network” has warned of the dire consequences of the Gaza Strip's continuous worsening of economic, social, and humanitarian situations as a result of Israel's sustained siege for the sixteenth year in a row.

According to the network, the United Nations and its local and international partners' 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan estimates a need for more than $500 million to meet humanitarian needs in the occupied Palestinian territory, with more than 70% of it going to the Gaza Strip.

According to the Humanitarian Response Plan indicators, approximately 60% of the Gaza Strip's population, which exceeds 2,350,000 individuals, need humanitarian aid, the majority of whom are children, women, and people with disabilities.

The network confirmed that the Israeli blockade caused a humanitarian disaster that affected all aspects of life for the residents of the Strip, which has an area of no more than 365 square kilometers and the world's highest population density, as the occupation forces continue to impose restrictions on the movement of goods and people, prevent farmers from accessing their agricultural lands in border areas, and assaulting fishermen in a restricted fishing area, in addition to preventing the entry of many raw materials, devices and equipment, and preventing the export of many items outside the Gaza Strip, which prevents the development of the economic sector.
