The League condemns Bennett's statements and expresses its support for the Hashemite guardianship of Jerusalem

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds condemned, today, Monday, the statements of the Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, regarding sovereignty over the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The League confirmed that Bennett's statements reflect the malicious intentions of the occupation towards the holy city, and disregard international agreements and laws that affirm that Jerusalem is an occupied land and that the relevant provisions of international law apply to it.

In a letter to the Palestine Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives, the league expressed its support for the Hashemite guardianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, and rejected the statements of the head of the occupation government that denied this role, stressing its willingness to cooperate with the Jordanian House of Representatives in order to implement international law in Jerusalem, and to confront the plans of the occupation aiming at changing the city's landmarks and historical character.

At the start of his weekly cabinet meeting, Bennett indicated that "all decisions regarding Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem will be taken by the government of Israel, which is the party that has sovereignty over this city, without regard to external considerations."
