A delegation of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds concluded its official visit to the Indonesian city of Bali, on Thursday, to participate in the international parliamentary meeting
The League’s president, Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, said that during the visit, the league held discussions with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco, and the parliamentary delegations participating in the meeting’s work on the file of the league’s accession as an observer member, indicating that it was agreed to present the membership file during the next meeting of the union, which is scheduled next October.
Al-Ahmar stressed that the presence of the League in such a parliamentary assembly is important for coordinating Arab, Islamic and international parliamentary efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and to expose the practices of the occupation and confront its terrorist attacks against the Palestinian people, adding that "Parliamentarians for Al-Quds" achieved an international presence necessary to carry out their work efficiently by joining international parliamentary institutions.
He pointed out that the League had recently gained observer membership in the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Parliamentary Union, the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
A delegation of parliamentarians for Al-Quds participated in the work of the 144th Union meeting, based on an official invitation. The delegation includes the President of the League, Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, and the Director-General of the League, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, and the head of the public relations department in the league, Abdullah Al-Beltaji.
