Parliamentarians for Al-Quds Obtains Observer Status with the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption

The Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) announced on Wednesday, that the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds has been granted observer membership in the organization.

The Director-General of the League, Dr. Muhammad Makram Balawi said that granting the League this status is an important step on the road to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and activating the work of parliaments to support the Palestinian cause, calling on the parliamentary unions to interact with the League’s efforts and plans aimed at activating the role of parliamentarians and their responsibilities towards the cause.

Balawi pointed out that the League obtained observer status at the end of last year in the African Parliamentary Union, during the seventy-sixth session of the Executive Committee of the Union held in Djibouti, as well as in the Union of Councils of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, during the twenty-third session of the General Committee of the Union in Istanbul.
