LP4Q, PALESTINE COMMITTEE ADHERE TO HASHEMITE CUSTODIANSHIP, TO COORDINATE JOINT ACTIVITIES

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q) and the Palestine Parliamentary Committee in the Jordanian House House of Representatives stressed Tuesday the importance of adhering to the Jordanian Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem and coordinating efforts between the two parties to strengthen the steadfastness of Jerusalemites.

The Director General of LP4Q, Dr. Muhammad Makram Balawi, said that the Hashemite custodianship over the holy sites is a dam and a shield against all attempts to undermine the Palestinian presence in occupied Jerusalem, stressing the need to pay no attention to all attempts and plots aimed at undermining this guardianship.

This came during the reception of a delegation from Palestine Parliamentary Committee at the headquarters of the LP4Q in Istanbul, which included the chairman of Parliamentary Palestine Committee, MP Muhammad Al-Zahrawi and members of the committee, MP Ahmed Al-Sarrahna , MP Rashid Al-Shouha , MP Fayez Basbous , secretary of Committee Amer Al-Majali, and a member of the directorate of Public Relations at the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives, Qassem Mhaidat, the Vice President of Jordanian Community Association in Turkey Bassam Khamash, and a member of the board of directors of Jordanian-Turkish Relations Ibrahim Maasfeh.

Balawi pointed out the importance of communicating with the Ottoman Archives Department in the Republic of Turkey to obtain documents supporting the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He pointed out that the LP4Q coordinates with parliaments and legal bodies to support Palestinian rights in Jerusalem and the occupied territories, noting that the LP4Q agreed during the reception with Palestine Committee to strengthen joint activities and coordinate efforts.

Balawi added that the LP4Q is working to hold a conference for the heads of Palestine committees in Arab and international parliaments under the auspices of the Turkish parliament in the coming period, wishing the Palestine Committee an effective role in this conference and organizing joint activities in the Hashemite Kingdom from Jordan to Jerusalem and the role of the parliament.

As for the head of the Palestinian Parliamentary Committee in the Jordanian House House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Zahrawi, he stressed that the relationship between the LP4Q and the Palestine Committee is an inclusive relationship to serve the Palestinian cause in the parliament, and called on the LP4Q to cooperate with the committee to focus on the Hashemite guardianship over the global, Arab and Palestinian holy sites, and to oppose all conspiracies that seek to deprive and disrupt this custodianship, and to include it in the letters of the LP4Q

Al-Zahrawi said that intensive meetings will be held in the coming days to coordinate the work between the committee and the LP4Q and study the strengthening of the parliamentary role in the service of occupied Jerusalem. He pointed out that the committee plans to hold a conference for all parties speaking on behalf of Jerusalem and the Islamic and Christian holy sites to issue a unified position and statement and organize efforts during the next month.

He stressed that Jordan is fighting a fateful battle in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and that the Palestine Committee is in a permanent session to support the neighborhood, continuing, "When we hear that the settlers have trampled on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, it is as if they have trampled on our chests and the chests of the Jordanian people."

Al-Zahrawi called for organizing a popular and parliamentary campaign to expose the occupation's racist practices against the Palestinian people and to inform the parliaments about them, pointing out that the LP4Q has a national and Palestinian agenda that every Jordanian parliamentarian is proud of.
